  2. A good part about this article is that it describes the political blow that jesse owens dealt to nazi germany and hitler. A bad part is that the article is very out of order. An interesting fact is that hitler ran from the building after owens

  3. Katarina - Look on my website again, under Unit 5. I've had to overcome all sort of technical difficulties, but your article is up now.

  4. Well, this article isn't too positive... However, the most positive portion was the trade to Germany kept the rest of Europe from war (only the Czechs and Slovaks felt this loss and got invaded really). The negative is that the rest of Czechoslovakia was invaded and all their land went to Germany, Hungary, and Poland. What interested me was that Musolini went along to discuss the trade, even though it sounded like he just was there to get Hitler's point across.

  5. This article was positive in many ways, but I'll just name what I think was the most important. President Roosevelt promised quick action, and he gave it. He brought smart young lawyers, and college professors to Washington to plan a new government program known as the New Deal. Thus, slowly bringing the country out of the Great Depression. I really couldn't find a negative, but I think the fact that millions of people questioned what FDR said in his speech while he was being sworn in. What I thought was interesting is what FDR called the people who would help him establish a new government. The "Brain Trust", clever! -Elias

  6. The English and French ATEMPTED (and failed) to keep their countries out of war. On the negative side, all they did was give Germany free land without defeat or bloodloss. Interestingly, if they hadn't given Germany the land and had instead fought for the land...there probably wouldn't have been another World War.

  7. Chapter 21: First Lady

Positive: Eleanor Roosevelt was a very active first lady. She had many ideas and thoughts she stood behind. Even thought many people disagreed with her actions, she didn't let that stop her from following what she set out to do. Many of her ideas consisted of helping the unemployed veterans, creating new and improved negro homes, providing education to poor young people, supporting shelter for the slums, giving Negro's the right of citizenship, and that women should be treated equal and have the same rights as men.
Negative: Even though Eleanor tried her best to satisfy everyone, there was still a few people who disagreed with her. One of her ideas that she had, which most people did not agree with was woman's rights and to be equal to men. Still today even though there is a right that lets woman vote, people still today feel that woman shouldn't have equal rights as men (cough, cough)....Daniel...
Interesting Fact: When Eleanor visited the veterans' camp, she spent time with them eating the food they ate, listening to their stories, and singing song of World War 1 with them.
